Forget cricket, two interesting shows are set to launch on TV tonight

There are two interesting shows ready for a takeoff on Imagine TV - Beendh Banunga Ghodi Chadhunga and Looteri Dulhan that start tonight. Beendh... is a family drama that revolves around the story of two people caught up in the web of strong traditions and rituals. The show traces the story of Sarika (Jayashree) and Jai (Anuj Thakur) who have a very different outlook towards life. While Sarika's ambition is to become a doctor, Jai's only dream is to get married and live a carefree life.

While she has a tough time in college, at home she is repudiated by her conservative in-laws for not being a good bahu. This show also marks the return of Nausheen Ali Sardar on TVs.

In Looteri Dulhan, the Singh parivaar has a unique business which is to con people, without violence or weapons. The show is based on real life incidents from across the country. The show is a story of Billo ( Krishna Gokani) , a young girl adopted by a Haryanvi thug family who portray themselves as saree traders from UP; and on the sly, run a business of conning lecherous men aged 70-plus who look at marrying young girls.

Saurabh Tewari, head of programming (fiction), Imagine TV, explains the thought behind both these shows. About Beendh, he says, "Continuing the trend of having popular shows like Jyoti which celebrate womanhood in all its glory, we decided to produce BBGC which is a show about "what women want", about their need for self-expression. It's a show that reflects the growing trend amongst the younger women in India of feeling that there is more to them than just being great daughters, bahus and mothers. Girls want to have an opportunity to express themselves as individuals in their own right, whilst also being great home-makers. Sarika our heroine represents that dream of a perfect balance in life that most women today feel they achieve, if given a chance and if they get the support of their life-partners."

About Looteri Dulhan, Saurabh says, "The sheer curiosity and interest that the title 'Looteri Dulhan' generates when you first read it, is reason big enough for a show to be made with that title. So, here are characters interesting and unique. Our channel has never been averse to going against the tide and coming up with different and unique shows as we always strive to create something new for our viewers."
