MUMBAI — Reliance Communications Limited (RCom) has announced its consolidated financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2015.

Reliance Big TV (Direct-To-Home business)

Our Direct-To-Home (DTH) digital TV Business, branded as Reliance Big TV, offers a full combo of Standard Definition, High Definition & High Definition-DVR STBs, along with largest channel bouquet. We also introduced a new technology advancement which made us the 1st operator to offer all 278 channels in HD like quality. Reliance offers nationwide Direct-To-Home satellite TV services, employing state-of-the-art MPEG4 technology.

Reliance Digital TV is available at over 35,750 outlets across nearly 5,650 cities in the country. The retail and distribution reach, as well as other elements of infrastructure established for our wireless network, have been leveraged to expand our DTH presence. Reliance Digital TV currently has about 5.0 million subscribers, with 6% share of the DTH market in India. We launched India’s first High definition cum Advanced Digital Video recorder (HD DVR), offering 200 hrs of recording, trick play functions & universal remote for operating three devices.

Our Set Top Box (STB) Failure Rate is 0.92%, which is amongst the best internationally & by far the best in India.

I teally wonder why they are not making HD boxes available for sale :(

because most of people will go towards highest HD channels DTH like dishtv & tata sky
so they scaring to bring new boxes as they have only 12 HD channels which is very lowest in DTH industry
In fact, sun direct having more than 15 HD channels
 
I still believe if they add more HD channels then people will still buy it. They compromise on picture quality as well :(
 
Reliance Digital TV, the DTH arm of Reliance Communications, has added just 100000 net subscribers in the fiscal third quarter.

This takes its total subscriber base to five million, representing 6% share of the DTH market.

For the quarter ended 30 September 2015, the DTH operator had 4.9 million subscribers. The subscriber base stood at 4.87 million for the quarter ended 30 June 2015.

The company’s DTH business is housed under Reliance Big TV Ltd (RBTV), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Communications. Reliance Digital TV has the lowest number of subscribers among the six private DTH operators in the country.


Dish TV is the largest DTH operator with a net subscriber base of 14 million until 31 December 2015. Videocon d2h has 11.27 million net subscribers while Airtel Digital TV’s total subscriber base stands at 11.1 million subscribers at the end of the same period. Tata Sky’s latest figures could not be sourced, but it had 9.1 million active subscribers at the end of 31 March 2015.

Reliance Digital TV claims to have introduced a new technology advancement that made it the first operator to offer all 278 channels in HD-like quality.

As per data submitted by the DTH operators to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) till 30 June 2015, the six private DTH operators had 78.74 million subscribers with 39.74 million active and 39 million inactive subscribers.
