MUMBAI: Direct to home (DTH) operator Reliance Big TV (RBTV), which has been acquired by Pantel Technologies, has issued a notice to Tata Sky for alleged breach of commercial understanding, a source close to the development has told TelevisionPost.com.
The notice was issued in the last week of January.
RBTV has asked Tata Sky to pay up Rs 79.75 crore for migration of customers and for taking possession of its set top boxes (STBs) while acquiring customers. It has also claimed that Tata Sky had agreed to pay a certain sum for boot up channel to inform the subscribers about the migration.

Rs 79.75 crore!
Doesnt look likely. On the contrary, so many cases are there against RBTV.

Bad management in an already doomed organisation. They should have anticipated all this if they tied up with TataSky for migration, and then suddenly decided to go their own way (with Pantel). Too complicated for a subscriber to understand what to do. They lost their base when they agreed to migrate users to Tata Sky- no one will hold back, given the history of RBTV and its paltry channels list.

Didn't reliance them selves make a deal with TS for migration of customers as they had given the notice of closing operations as their license expires.

Then they changed their mind and sold the company to someone, so how is TS responsible?

ADTV also gave offers to RDTV users so why no notice here ?

They cant give notice to ADTV as they had no "agreement" as such. With TS, they had an agreement and RBTV claims TS has breached the terms of this agreement. Regarding payment of dues for acquiring subscribers, STB, and the boot-up channel etc. What ADTV, DishTV, D2H did, was just poach customers taking advantage of the situation. There was no agreement and hence, it was entirely upto the subscriber to go for it or not.

Have there been other acquisition offers in the past (not due to a shutdown scenario of an operator, but just to poach customers from other DTH)?

Exactly ;);)

TS had agreement but they withdrew the offer voluntarily after RDTV was sold. So TS only paid sum for number of STBs exchanged and not for all users as required. Now Pantel is saying we need full money. So maybe TS should continue to show their ad in RDTV home channel and poach all remaining users? Is that what Pantel wants?

RDTV got confused, they changed their.mind and didn't inform others

They themselves on their home channel showed TS advt. I guess exchange offer was till 30th Nov, not sure

No agreement between rdtv & ts :rolleyes::oops::oops::eek::eek:

Then how ts transfer the unused amount from rdtv account to ts account ??

Seems Nagpal is playing

Coz why ts didn't send any legal notice to rdtv at the time of rdtv screening abt agreement ??

Now saying no agreement after got money from rdtv users ??

Something fishy here

Rdtv done the right thing let's see

Rdtv not a child to gave legal notice to anyone without having proper proof
