Every time I checked this channel there were infomercials for some DVD boxsets, does this channel actually airs programming or just advertisements disguised as shows?

Actually, It is an Ad-free channel.

It is one of those kind of channel which every genres should have/want.

It is an exploratory channel with good documentaries and the highly famous 'Sancharam' in which, we are taken to almost all parts of the Earth.

Those DVDs are of Sancharam. There are many volumes and each one is for tour of different places.
