Discussion Satellite rights of Hindi movies

Is Sony trying the Sun strategy with respect to Satellite rights? Because it buys movies at a low price and then gets high ratings on telecast. The YRF movies are too costly and that's why I think YRF has moved to Star. Even Kabir Singh was bought at a low price. Plus it has a limited satellite appeal. With respect to forthcoming movies only Arjun Patiala, Batla House, Pagalpanti, Marjaavaan have a satellite appeal rest others have limited satellite appeal. Vishesh films are very economical to buy, Sony's gamble is actually working in favor of them.

When it comes to revenue Sony would be second most profitable in coming years after Star ofcourse.

Dubbed movies satellite rights acquisition cost also increased before Max acquired many dubbed movies for 50 to 75 lakhs
But now max Aggressively acquires dubbed these movies for 2 to 8 Crores. Now Sony max's 70 % movie Acquisition Budget for dubbed movies Remaining 30% for Hindi movies
Dubbed movies getting good Ratings on Max So max continuously acquires dubbed movies for High cost

Not every movie bought in crores, only big stars movies like Allu Arjun, Vijay, Jr NTR bought at huge price. Most of the films which Max premieres are 2-4 crore films.star also acquires big budget dubbed movies but since they have lots of money, they maintain a balance, zee acquires the dubbing rights through Pen Or buy the film in all languages

This is main problem of Sony Max
They spend lot of money to dubbed movies Acquisition. Then how can they acquire most expected Bollywood Movies.
Sometimes they acquired some movies for low and medium cost surprisely these some movies Big hit in Box office

Satellite strategy for every network at present
Sony: Deals with Tseries and Vinod Chopra Films are existing but are not in exclusive basis. No big star movie since TOH flop. Buy small movies and dubbed movies and premiere them in prime time and take ratings
Star: Deals with the biggest stars and production houses plus Fox's aggressive production and distribution arm make sure that Bollywood content is sufficient.
Zee: Heavy aggressive Zee Studios push, plus deals with stars and backing independent cinema again is huge plus.
Colors: only three production houses (one is leaving to join Zee) are the foundation basis for its movies. Syndication movies are the backbone, great in events management and coverage
