Hungama TV - one of popular kids channel in India, launched earlier by UTV group in 2004 , that time there were rival; kids channels by turner and other few networks. it managed to create its own niche. regularly how new animated and kids movies in afternoon and shows focused on kids, variety of shows, and live action shows. Gol Gol Gulam , Introduced Doraemon , Shinchan, Kochikame, Yu Gi Oh !, Sonic X , Robotan, Gennie Family , Hero- Bhakti hi shakti Hai, it managed to create popularity among kids thanks to innovative campaigns - hungama machaya kya ! , kids anime shows karaoke and contests in several Indian cities to promote its shows. focused quality dubbing of shows and its theme songs in Indian language retaining original theme of the show and make it relatable with Indian kids. earlier days they used to dub all their anime shows opening and ending theme song in Hindi, Tamil & Telugu - retaining original background music and character names were kept same or shortened to make it easier for kids to recognize.

Later in 2008 Hungama TV did faced problem in 2008 for shinchan for edits in the show - which I later found but thanks to children overwhelming support and demand for shinchan to come back . channel accepted edit demand of authorities and made relevant edits started airing shinchan with cuts in 2010 starting. hungama tv got highest ratings for shinchan show among all kids channel . doraemon was shifted to Disney India channel from approx 2012

2015 - Pokemon was relaunched in India in Hungama TV as disney bought rights , they promoted pokemon with more enthusiasm and pokerap song, Beybklade show was relaunched. with high ratings

2020- Hagemaru rights bought managed to get high trp

2024- shinchan new seasons rights lost to Sony yay , they bought Pokémon Horizons Brand new series rights aired but faced lesser trp over the months. few weeks back they decided Hungama tv and super hungama might be shut down due to merger of Star and Viacom18 to comply with cci rules.

its sad news Hungama tv might be shut down, even marvel HQ was renamed to super Hungama realizing Hungama tv - channel's popularity. it was India's first Indian owned kids channel Hungama tv airs shows in following audio in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu,

later due to Hungama Tv - channel's popularity-Sun group decided to launch their own kids channel chutti tv in 2007 became 2nd channel, zee q entered 2013 later quit after few years, 2011/2012 sonic did started although with sonic was viacom owned ,Gubbare tv started in 2020, Etv Bal Bharat started in 2021.

p.s ( only discuss about shows aired in Hungama TV - channel - airs kids shows, kids anime series, movies, animated movies etc. or your favourite moments with Hungama TV)

I first discovered Hungama around the end of 2011. At first, I was all about Shinchan, which was the main reason I tuned in. But over time, I opened up to other shows. Disney Channel was my destination for Doraemon, but I soon realized that Hungama was an awesome second choice for it too. Honestly, I think Doraemon fits perfectly on Hungama only!

Besides Shinchan and Doraemon, I enjoyed watching shows like Hero Bhakti Hi Shakti Hai, UltraB, and Ninja Warrior. I also loved Gon The Stonage Boy, Luckyman, Perman, Shinchan and Doraemon movies. Especially Bungle in the Jungle & Haigure. 😍

What really made my viewing experience special was the fantastic logo and graphics. I actually mentioned that last month. 👇
My true Summer and Winter vacations before 2020.

I had a lot of good memories with Hungama TV which will make my reply too long. Some things I fondly remember are: laying on my bed in the living room (yes we had a bed in the living room) and watching Shinchan during 2009 May summer holidays, watching Kiteretsu on weekends afternoon (04:00 PM probably) while headphones connected to TV and singing along the intro theme, Coming back from keyboard class and watching Osomatsu-Kun in 2009 summer vacation. Life was so peaceful and blissful back then. Thanks for all the good memories Hungama! RIP Hungama TV! You will be deeply missed!

It's very nostalgic to me when I remember those good old days when there used to rain outside and I was sitting in front of tv watching "Doraemon" on Hungama. Those days, there were only Pogo, Nick & Hungama that used to come on our analog cable tv. I used to watch "Hero: Bhakti Hi Shakti Hai", "Ninja Warrior", "Monster Kid" along with some other great shows. The newly merged entity shouldn't shut down Hungama. Instead of it, shut down Super Hungama or Disney Jr. It's a flagship channel just like Disney, Pogo, Cartoon Network & Nick.

Does anybody know when this channel will be shut down? Or is it going to be sold to anyone else?

I asked the same question yesterday and I got no solid answers. I personally think that both Hungama and Super Hungama will be shut downed as the only potential buyers allowed to participate in the deal are Warner Bros Discovery India (Cartoon Network, Pogo, Discovery Kids), In10 (Gubbare) and BBC (Cbeebies). The Walt Disney Company acquired Hungama from UTV software communication in 2006 for a whooping 30.5 million USD, so it's safe to say that the channel is now atleast worth 50 million USD as it's content library and market reach has grown tremendously. I don't think any network will shell out such huge amount to buy a channel as it's cheap to start from scratch. Linear TV kids channels are slowly dying too! Another DDTH member vadirocks bro said in a reply that his insider sources told that SIPL management is looking to shut down channels and not sell them. So the fate is sealed now. The only thing we need to know is the time when the plug will be pulled so that we can enjoy till it lasts and hopefully record it's last moments.

This makes sense actually. WB Discovery won't have an incentive to run another brand when they already have their 2 iconic brands, and one brand (Pogo) that only exists in India. In the west, kids don't watch linear TV anymore and many have moved to OTT (Netflix, Disney+ etc) if not YouTube junk content for kids. o_O

Warner Bros Discovery doens't even have the incentive to run Cartoon Network lol 🤣. David Zaslaw (CEO of Warner Bros Discovery) is very anti-animation and is doing whatever he can do to kill Cartoon Network and is slowing leeching the life from Cartoon Network. You would know this even if you remotely followed about happenings in Cartoon Network. They recently killed most Cartoon Network websites and took off many iconic CN shows from HBO Max. It would be better if WBD stays away from Hungama even if they get a chance to buy it! They'll run it to the ground!
