.Los Angeles, Jun 17 (PTI) Simon West is all set to take the mantle from Hollywood macho-man Sylvester Stallone as the director of the second installment of ''The Expendables''.
The 49-year-old filmmaker, who started his directing career with ''Con Air'' in 1997, has been selected to direct the sequel of the 2010 surprise action hit, which starred half a dozen stars, reported Deadline.
Directed by Stallone, the original film grossed USD 275 million worldwide.
The sequel is again expected to have back the original cast that includes Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews and Jet Li.
The film will be produced by Millennium Films and released by Lionsgate.
West has films like ''Lara Croft: Tomb Raider'', ''The General''s Daughter'' and ''The Mechanic'' to his credit.
The production is scheduled to begin in the summer. PTI MBY
