Sports 18 1 match will be in HD on MTV HD while Sports 18 1HD match will have a SD feed on MTV.

Maybe for such matches English Feed will also b made available on MTV HD/Sports18 SD.

Some members stating that viacom18 is promoting Jio Cinema more by making English Feed of such matches exclusive to it and instead they should try to provide it on some of their existing channels. Firstly it has still not been confirmed as to what will be their strategy but nevertheless we should not compare current situation with that of 2014 when Sony aired all matches on TV.

Now internet / OTT access has increased by a huge margin so all broadcasters will try to balance out its content strategy across these 2 platforms and reach to wider audience in a more effective manner which is also best suitable to the evolved business model in the broadcast industry

But the Delhi High court judgement says that DD Sports should not be encrypted since it is mandatory and FTA.
So how can DTH subscribers be prevented from having DD Sports feed when matches are originally aired by Star/Sony, where they should share the feed with DD Sports as per Sports Act?

It was based on a different context as i have already explained in my earlier posts. Same won't be applicable on matches aired by DD which r mandated as per sports act

But sony never compromise top nation matches like brazil, Argentina even if match happened at same time if not wrong that time sony kix also available which gave regional feed but here for the sake of promote mtv hd they shift brazil Argentina Portugal match on mtv hd without proper distribute channel

Brazil Argentina Portugal England France Netherland matches will all be on Sports18 HD the only big team match that will be shown live on MTV HD will be either Spain or Germany coz both will play at same time

In the final group the big match is Croatia v Belgium will also be on Sports18 HD

Compare how many channels were available from Sony for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Big thumbs down to Viacom18 for havin only one Sports18 channel, leading to overburdening, and not properly promoting MTV HD or distributing it. Suddenly MTV SD is airing matches when it was not supposed to. Complete amateur strategy.

Then again, older members may remember that for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Sony had to launch Sony Pix HD to show simultaneous matches, and Dish TV was the first to add it. But that was nowhere as bad as this circus and merry-go-round for Sports18. It is as though they are intentionally asking us to use JioCinema because there is no way to know which channel is showing which match.

The coverage of Viacom18 is way better than Sony in 2014 nd 2018. True for the first few days JioCinema had issue but the expert panel they have got for the tournament is really great. We have got legends of the game in Rooney, Figo and Sol Campbell talking about the game which has not been done by any other broadcaster for a Indian feed. During 2006 and 2010 we had legendary pundits from ESPN Star but we were getting them from Hong Kong and Singapore studios but Viacom18 have got all these legends for Indian subcontinent feed which is awesome

To draw an analogy with airlines and hotels, there are two things called hard product and soft product. Hard product consists of the physical seat/bed and furnishings in the plane or hotel, while soft product consists of the food, amenities, service and other human aspects. Both are necessary to gain favour among consumers.

Having a great panel of commentators is equivalent to having a great soft product, but the hard product (distribution and scheduling of the channels) is lacking. It is like flying in business class with the best food and drinks and friendly service, but the seat is so hard that you cannot sit or sleep. Maybe you notice the commentators more but I am seeing all aspects at once. But you have raised a very valid point as well. Other members can also compare Viacom18’s World Cup coverage to Sony’s coverage.

Sony had a great atmosphere leading up to Rio World Cup. There were special promotions. And World Cup related shows. There was a reality show for the song of 2014 World Cup they aired. You could hear We Are One (Ole Ola) every other hour on the channel. Only bad thing was the first pre-show where they wanted to bollywoodify it by bringing some actress and John Abraham which bombed really bad. Also the pre-show guy quited at last minute. They had to bring Gaurav Kapur who I don't think have to anything with football.

Meanwhile Viacom this year has the best pre-show since Star ESPN but the worst of coverage. They waited for the last moment to get the channel added. At first few matches they skipped national anthem. Now with double headers it is confusing who is airing what. What Sports 18 is airing and what MTV is airing? Why is MTV HD missing from major platforms? Why isn't some channel available in all platforms like Colors Infinity HD being used? Also Sports18 is airing nothing but programs dedicated to FIFA World Cup 2022. I don't get why they can't air full match highlights for those who missed the late night matches. 15 minutes highlights can be enjoyed on Internet. Who is producing the hindi matches? Commentators keeps screaming all the time killing all the momentum.

I agree with all the points you notes down and specially on highlights. Not all but they should air full highlights of late night matches and half an hour highlights of evening matches.
