Star India reports Rs 1,216 crore loss in FY19

It's a known fact that sports will bite your hands.
That is why Zee let go of Ten Sports and sold the Ten channels to Sony; OTOH, Sony is doing quite well in the sports business. Let's say SPN knows how to manage some genres much better than others. Its Hindi GECs are getting record ratings and it is covering all sorts of sports equally (including big events like the FIFA World Cup), but it is destroying Sony BBC Earth and its Hindi movie channels, and it has already killed Sony Le Plex/Rox HD. Not going into further details on that as there is no use flogging a dead horse.

Star was tried to change the ipl timings from 8 pm to 7 pm in 2019, but succeeded for 2020 season for ads revenue during prime time (7pm to 10:30 pm)

True. Without indian cricket, star is nothing. Sony toppled star in sports for a week when no indian cricket matches were there last month. And star mostly airs same event in same language in different channels which is quite stupid

Zee let go as they knew they would never have BCCI rights.
