Star network has become the most distributed South Asian network in the UK and mainland Europe and is now synonymous with being the market leader in Hindi language content in multiple territories worldwide.

Star Plus the highest-rated premium general entertainment channel, from the Star Network, a wholly owned subsidiary of News Corporation, has launched on UPC Nederland, the second largest cable operator in Holland. With the launch this May, UPC has strengthened its Asian television entertainment offering to the South Asian diaspora in Holland.

Earlier this year Star channels also launched on other cable and IPTV platforms in Europe such as CAIWAY and Glashart in Holland and You See in Denmark.

Star Plus is fast becoming the No.1 General Entertainment Channel globally offering 24-hour premium Hindi content subtitled in English. It is the leading television entertainment choice for the South Asian diaspora worldwide offering a variety of content such as dramas, reality shows, international format shows, cultural and religious shows, cookery shows, comedy, exclusive Bollywood events and the latest Bollywood blockbusters. Star Plus is rated the No. 1 Hindi Television channel by the UK’s official TV-audience measurement body BARB (Broadcaster’s Audience Research Board) and in India, by the official industry audience measurement body TAM (Television Audience Measurement).

Commenting on the launch, Star’s Head of UK & European Business, Yeshpal Sharma stated, “Holland is home to the second largest Hindi speaking population after the UK in Europe, and we are delighted to partner with leading cable operator UPC to reach this significant market. This latest deal with UPC is part of Star’s unprecedented growth in mainland Europe, now making Star one of the most widely available networks in Europe”.
