Since Sony Pictures Networks launch in the 90s, the broadcaster tied up with YRF for exclusive telecast of its movie library. However, Bollywood Hungama reports that Star Network has made an offer of Rs. 500 crore for the entire YRF catalogue of movies.

A source told the publication, “Ever since Disney acquired Fox and Star there has been an influx of financial backing. Thanks to this Star Network was able to offer up Rs. 500 cr. for the satellite right of forthcoming films that are to be made under the Yash Raj Films banner.”

:ouch: :ouch: :ouch: The entire YRF collection! :skd:

Now that Sony has completely lost the YRF cushion, it has to fight to get whatever little Hindi movies it can get. IMHO, Star Gold will start showing Tiger Zinda Hai, the Dhoom series and DDLJ, and Star Gold Select will hopefully show better movies like Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Shuddh Desi Romance. In this way it can finally show some competition to &xplor HD and ensure that these excellent movies are not wasted at the hands of some executives and their policies.

Good now we will be paying less and getting better quality movies. With that Star Gold will have Fox, Disney and YRF movies. NP Singh sir you can now enjoy Kanchana and Sooryavansham on repeat. Even T-Series movies are coming to Zee and Star now.

NP Singh, yes, but all the (dis)credit goes to Neeraj Vyas.

Of course, the entire network is so focused on sporting rights that it completely cut the life support from Le Plex and Rox HD.

What sports? NBA, UFC, WWE will come to Star with all that financial backing.
