The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), after reaching a consensus with TV serial producers, has called off their strike over their demand for a steep hike for workers.
Confirming the news to TelevisionPost.com, sources informed that representatives of the federation and TV production houses had a last-resort meeting late evening on 5 May to resolve the crisis before the strike could stall shooting of TV serials from 6 May onwards.
Although the two parties failed to reach a golden mean even after a week of discussions and mudslinging, the upshot of the meeting was a hike of 58 per cent over a period of five years. FWICE general secretary Dilip Pithiva told TelevisionPost.com, “The meeting was successful.
Both parties reached a consensus amicably. We agreed on a 13 per cent, 11 per cent, 11 per cent, 11 per cent, and 12 per cent hike for each year for a period of five years.”
As per the previous MoU between the federation and TV producers, the workers got a hike of 35 per cent, he added.
