Technology service company Tata Elxsi on Tuesday partnered with M-Star Semiconductor to provide a suite of software for MStar ’s System-on-a-Chip (SoC) targeted at Set-Top Boxes (STB). The partnership is supposed to benefit MSOs and OEMs.
Tata Elxi will make available its ‘RDK Prime’ suite on MStar STB chipset products, as part of the partnership. The suite will make use of the functionality for next-generation application demands from end consumers. The Prime software is also available on Android TV and RDK.
The software also includes digital media components with an integrated app-store, built-in analytics components, OTT media players, Cloud EPG , Cloud DVR, CAS and IoT agents.
The ‘RDK Prime’ version bundled with an HTML5 application framework will enable operators to reduce the time to roll out next-generation TV and interactive services based on RDK. The solution comes with a customizable user interface.

Added to it is the best-in-class customer experience provided at the platform and software levels. We expect this partnership to propel the adoption of new IP based technologies at a much more rapid pace,” said Sreekumar K P, Vice President of Broadcast Business Unit, at Tata Elxsi.
Tata Elxsi also partnered with CAS and platform vendors for ensuring system integration and deployment.
