Tata Sky will cancel channels or packs for about 7 million subscribers from June 15 in a bid to reduce their monthly bills and retain them on the direct-to-home platform.

Bad move. TRAI's NTO was to let users drop channels. Not service providers to drop channels on their behalf. It's unfair to broadcasters to randomly drop channels. Meanwhile they should have expected to lose customers as most people didn't have money for food and rent during lockdown. Forget about luxury like tv. Also there were no new episodes of tv shows from broadcasters. Decline was expected. Customers will come back in coming months. If they are so desperate for active customers. They should reduce NCF like their rivals are doing.

Star Plus zee tv colors and sony feel shame. They need to cut their prices own during this Covid situation but they are not doing. Good move by tata sky because ddfreedish subscribers are increasing day by day due to no new show on highly paid channels even sports channels also.

But do not take shots at sports channels. Sony has got marquee WWE, UFC and Boxing events. Including live WWE and UFC pay per views. Star has live games from Bundesliga. And both broadcasters are giving us nostalgic vibes with iconic cricket matches.

I don't see what's iconic in airing old IPL games 24x7 on 3-4 channels. Sony is still doing a better job with old cricket games from the vault along with diverse content from other sports. But for star, there's only one sport in the world and that's cricket and there's only one event for that and that's IPL.

But what are the conditions to drop? I mean how does tata sky know which users to keep channels and which to drop?
