MUMBAI: The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has directed multi-system operator (MSO) Digicable Network India to pay Rs 1 crore (Rs 10 million) to IndiaCast UTV Media Distribution by 15 August in an interim arrangement. In case the payment is not made by 15 August, it will be open to IndiaCast to discontinue the supply of its signals to the MSO. IndiaCast UTV counsel Kunal Tandon submitted that though the MSO is continuously receiving the signals, it has not made any payment since 31 March 2015. According to Tandon, the MSO owes Rs 2.44 crore (Rs 24.4 million) to the content distributor. Digicable counsel JK Mehta submitted that if the amount of carriage fee payable to the MSO is taken into account, the amount of dues will be much lower. The tribunal also made it clear that the payment is purely an interim arrangement and is without prejudice to the rights and contentions of the parties and shall abide by the final order passed in this case. Meanwhile, Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Ltd. (BECIL) informed the tribunal that the audit of Digicable’s system is under process and the report is likely to be submitted by 20 August. The matter has been put up under the same heading on 24 August.
