Still people will support these kind of policies from government.

This govt wants to take money from us in all forms. Why they need a porting fee.

Mobile shops are already charging ₹50 for mnp
Now they will charge 80 rupees. More profit to them and government and at the end of the day its common man who suffers.

I think if you go to direct company showrooms there will not be extra charges. Atleast for BSNL if we go to their exchange MNP is free.
Yes their official stores don't charge anything, been to jio, airtel, idea and bsnl exchange they don't ask for any money

The new fee of Rs 5.74 for mobile number portability (MNP) will be effective from September 30, 2019, and was computed on a cost reimbursement basis, following the change in architecture, the telecom regulator said.

“These (mobile portability) charges are based on a cost reimbursement principle and computed accordingly to arrive at a Rs 5.74 pricing to be effective from September 30,” the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) chairman RS Sharma told ETTelecom.
