Veeram eligible for Best Picture at Oscars...
Malayalis now have a reason to rejoice! Veeram has found a place in the list of films in contention for the best picture Oscar this year. The list has been released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently. There are 336 films eligible for best pictures' Oscars. It also includes two other Indian films, Sarabjit and MS DHONI - An Untold Story.
Veeram is an upcoming Indian epic historical drama film written and directed by Jayaraj. It is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, and is the fifth installment in Jayaraj's Navarasa series.The film, which also takes inspirations from the Vadakkan Pattukal (Northern Ballads) of North Malabar region in Kerala tells the story of Chandu Chekavar, an infamous warrior in the 13th century North Malabar. Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor plays the lead role in it.
