While Vidya Balan was excited to be back in
Jaipur for the promotion of her latest film
Bobby Jasoos, she was also a little
disappointed. "I love elephants! When we
were shooting for Eklavya in Jaipur, I used to
see elephants walking towards the Amber Fort
every morning on my way to the sets. I used
to have biscuits and bananas with me to feed
them, but this one baby elephant would
always ignore the food and go straight for the
money in my car. So I was a little
disappointed today when I saw no elephants
on the roads, but I guess that's because of
the heat," she said, adding that having the
lassi from MI Road was among the best parts
of her trips to Jaipur. While addressing a
press conference, the actress spoke about
everything from being a 'hungry actor' to not
needing to do jasoosi on her husband.

On her strategy of choosing films When
asked about doing strong roles in films that
also did well commercially, and if there was
any strategy to it, Vidya said, "I just think I
came into films at a good time, when
producers were willing to invest in good
stories. There was no strategy, and I never
did these films thinking about critical or
commercial success, but the thing is that I
am a very hungry actor and I have been lucky
that I've always been given such diverse
characters to play. But this 'revolution' that
people talk about, I am not the only one who
did it, and the credit goes to a lot of people."
On returning to TV Vidya started her acting
career with a stint in Hum Paanch, but she
said that she's a little lazy to go back to TV.
"When I did Hum Paanch, we used to shoot
for six days in a month, but now TV actors
have to shoot for 25, sometimes even 30 days
in a month." My friends in TV tell me they
don't even get a weekly off sometimes.
There's too much mehnat in TV now, and I
feel that maybe I'm too lazy to do that, I'm
not ready for that kind of mehnat. I do one,
maximum two films a year, and in the
meantime I like to pursue my other passions.
I like working that way," she said.
On male actors being paid more Priyanka
Chopra had said in a recent interview that
there is a tremendous disparity in the
remuneration between male and female
actors. When Vidya was asked about this, she
said, "My experience has been different
because of the kind of films I've done in the
last seven years. But yes, I agree that in 90%
of the films, actresses get to do similar kind
of roles, where they have to do some naach-
gaana and four scenes. But that's changing.
For instance, I thought that Deepika
Padukone got to do a very good role in a
completely commercial film like Chennai
Express."

On doing jasoosi on her husband While
deftly ignoring the references to recent
reports that there was trouble in her marriage
to Sidharth Roy Kapur, when asked if she
started getting interested in jasoosi after
marriage, Vidya said, "Jasoosi karne mein
kisko maza nahi aata? Hum sab paidaishi
jasoos hain, it has got nothing to do with
marriage. And I have full faith in Sidharth, so
I don't need to do jasoosi on him. I've done
it a lot in school and college, though, for my
friends."
On Dia Mirza "I've worked with Dia in two
films - Parineeta and Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
We've always gotten along really well and
there's always been a lot of warmth between
us. I feel like woh dil ki bahut saaf hai, and
when she came to me with this film, my only
fear was that if I don't like the script, how
will I say no to this girl? Thankfully, it didn't
come to that, and I loved the script," said
Vidya about working with Dia Mirza.
