Discussion Which do you think is more popular ICC tournaments or IPL?

Okay, so cricket is the most popular sports in the country. Media rights of something IPL is the most expensive property on the TV. ICC tournaments comes 3rd after BCCI rights. But I feel when it comes to popularity ICC tournaments are much popular than IPL and bilateral series. Just like FIFA events. Everyone from an hardcore fans to casual fans seemed to hooked to Star Sports and Hotstar when World Cup is on. It just feels like a festival where everyone is seeing and talking about cricket.

For me as a nostalgic pov icc events are more popular

From ratings point of view IPL, BCCI home matches r much more popular than ICC World Cup. Though Indian matches and certain other key matches in ICC events do get great ratings.

Ratings do matter for broadcaster in many cases it is not of that importance like niche events may get less ratings/ viewership but they attract premium advertisers which inturn boosts the revenue for broadcasters

I regret creating this thread. It was so disappointing. Today is first time in ages our whole extended family came together to have lunch and watch a cricket match together. Glad we didn't plan this for finals on Sunday.

ICC Tournaments are way more enjoyable than IPL. IPL unnecessarily goes on for way too long and gets stale after initial weeks and gets interesting only in the final week.
