Hi, I am a newbie here. I am keen to get into this satellite tracking biz.. I have two spare regular tata sky DTH dish antenna at home lying idle which I want to utilize for this purpose to start with. I see people posting various satellites & international channels, but I am not sure if they can be tracked from Bangalore using regular KU band antenna (dth ones).

My initial questions:
1. which are the non-DD Free dish FTA channels (or satellites) which we can track in Bangalore using a tata sky dish (I can change the direction as needed)?
2. best STB to buy for viewing these FTA channels?
3. Any active satellite trackers from Bangalore here? pl. comment here OR msg me.

Thanks

If u can buy a 4 ft dish, u can watch yahsat too.

But with TS dish, u can get :

eutelsat 70b
abs2 south-east beam

There are multiple MPEG4/DVB-S2/full-HD models from SOLID with no major differences in the features. What should I specifically look for?
SOLID 6042/6069 - SOLID HDS2-6042 Free-to-Air MPEG-4/ DVB-S2/ PVR Set-Top Box : Rs 1650
SOLID 9066 - HDS2-9066 (DVB-S2 / MPEG-4 / FULL HD SET-TOP BOX - Rs. 1700
SOLID 9042 - Solid HDS2-9048 DVB-S2 / MPEG-4 / FULL HD SET-TOP BOX  - Rs. 1850
SOLID 6141- SOLID HDS2-6141 I.T. Box - Rs 1650

Which of the lot is better? Is 6042 sufficient? Or may be 6141 (has CAS/card enabled?) ?

I have a Sharp LNB (4 port LNB) with the standard Tatasky dish (guess its pointng to 93.5E) already which I plan to use with the new FTA STB.

if its already pointing to 93.4e, then ull get dd freedish fta chnls, as soon as u connect a new fta stb. no need for dish alignment.

for box type, i m not sure, but may be 9048 is a better model.
I have solid 3000, but its not sold anymore.
