Why not launching DD sports premiere hd pay channel by Govt.

Private channels taking rights of Indian cricket team, and they earned profits and channel reputation also.

Why DD sports premiere HD channel , telecast of all sports events in live including cricket or other games held in India. Even outside also. Take rights of IPL also with good quality.

Why they cannot earned money from adds. They can not run channel? Then how private channel running successfully.
If they can charge ₹10, with good content, why we can not take that channel?

Why they cannot ability to run the quality channel?

The main reason is lack of funds. When a government project takes off, it requires multiple level of approval for fund allocation and the DD channels were created to provide contents for free. So it is difficult to get the required allocation. And moreover, the technical equipments are also aged for the govt run broadcasting organisation. The required modernization requires a huge funding and ofcourse a huge investment of time. The cheaper solution is to outsource the broadcasting rights and get a revenue sharing , which can fuel the operating costs of the organisation without much allocation of funds.

If you want DD to take license of all premium sporting events and be profitable, then they will have to charge much higher. It's either high charges or loss of tax payer's money as losses.

Ya. Instead of running useless channels .
They have to run quality premium sports pay channel with all sports content in hd
Funds is not a matter, sports events rights / ads can generate revenue.
BCCI is world's richest board.
They don't have money. Even they can also starts a channel . It's enough to telecast India men & women cricket matches.

Employee cost is abnormally high in all PSU, take MTNL for example, it spends 92% of its revenue on employee salaries, whereas airtel spend only 10% on employees. Then there is cost for running infrastructure.

So no fund left to buy premium sports rights. Now IPL right cost 2.5 billion USD . DD would be in ICU if they try to get it.

So it must ask for Govt fund.
But as a developing country finance ministry is likely spend fund on those which has major public benefit so DD take back seat.
