Seems like India Tour of New Zealand wouldn't be broadcasted on private TV. In this case scenario our only option is to either buy an Amazon Prime subscription or a DD FreeDish connection to watch the match. Also a broadband connection is required to stream the match with no interruption on Amazon. IMO DD FreeDish is the best bet as DD Sports 1.0 airs pretty much all important sporting events. Even if some other streamers picks up any exclusive rights. They will still be able to air it with the national important event card. These broadcast also has it's flaws as it's restricted to Standard Definition mostly.

Pvt DTH / cable tv fans going to miss this series. This is another example which pvt broadcasters not going for exclusive rights even though india playing the cricket match, in order to share the feed with DD. Now Pvt broadcasters will pay anything for IPL (which no need to share the feed with DD) and skip other cricket rights as they have to share the feed with DD.

I think DD Sports will air the series and it will be made available across all DTH and Cable TV Platforms. Prasar Bharati will surely try to arrive at some kind of agreement / arrangement with Amazon Prime Video for the same & we may get notified about it in next 48 - 72 hours. Both Amazon Prime and DD will wait until few hours or a day before start of the tournament to see if some private sports broadcaster comes up with an offer to sign agreement for TV broadcast of the series

This is all caused because of a law that says India matches should be shared with DD. The moment you give something to the people for free they wont pay for it.

That is why IPL is so valued by the broadcasters coz they dont need to share the feed with anyone. Also the reason Package C in IPL broadcast rights was bought by Viacom18 so that they have exclusivity.

India should go back to the time when there was exclusive TV rights for sporting events that would help the entire sports broadcasting industry as a whole

DD National HD mostly doesn't have any important content to air. They can atleast air it here.

Won't be happening and reason is same as to why India's Tour of West Indies 2022 was not available in HD. OTT platforms primarily has larger subscriber base in niche / urban segment which have access to good internet connectivity + higher purchasing power + interest in OTT content and this is where HD channels too gets most of its viewership from hence when Amazon Prime or other OTT platform enters into syndication agreement with a sports broadcaster for an event or series then it would clearly have a clause which restricts TV broadcast to be made available only in Standard Definition mode so that OTT platform does not suffer any reduction in viewership

I seriously hope they dont share the rights with DD coz then it will start the next wave in Indian broadcasting by exclusively on OTT just like ESPN telecasted in the 90's and 2k cricket exclusively on Pay TV. This led to the beginning to Pay TV broadcast in India. Maybe these forms of exclusive broadcast on OTT will see the next great shift to OTT. Sure at first some people will miss out but then they will start subscribing to OTT just to see the matches and OTT will start having new users. It is good for the long run

Since this series is currently not televised in India by any broadcaster and is just exclusive to OTT (which isn't covered by sports act), It shouldn't be mandatory for APV to share this with DD and any arrangement to broadcast this on DD would be a voluntary choice for APV
