This is all caused because of a law that says India matches should be shared with DD. The moment you give something to the people for free they wont pay for it.

That is why IPL is so valued by the broadcasters coz they dont need to share the feed with anyone. Also the reason Package C in IPL broadcast rights was bought by Viacom18 so that they have exclusivity.

India should go back to the time when there was exclusive TV rights for sporting events that would help the entire sports broadcasting industry as a whole
Yes, it is time to go back to 2000s era, then only we can able to watch all test playing cricket matches in tv sets, else pvt broadcaster will boycott one by one series , at the end only IPL will be telecast in pvt tv sets

In countries like Australia the Pay tv channels and the FTA channels and Pay channels fight for the TV rights maybe India should have that. Suppose DD gets live and exclusive coverage of Indian cricket rights they will get enough revenue from ad and all but the thing is they just want the free tv rights with poor quality.

If you see Channel 9 telecast of Australia cricket over the years the clarity graphics commentary and all are better than any of the Indian pay tv channel. Whereas we see the pregame show and all in DD Sports while sharing feed it is just awful to say the least

It has nothing to do with this reason. Why broadcasters r not buying rights of many sports boards or events is bcoz pricing of rights for few major sports properties have gone up considerably in last 7 or 8 years so broadcasters r cautious of where they need to invest and try to work on a strategy which makes it financially viable to run a sports broadcast network.

Already discussed in detail regarding this in the past, u can search for it in the forum and read the same. There was a time when each and every ODI / T20 match was made available on Doordarshan across cable and DTH Platforms and broadcasters went to honourable court citing reasons why it needs to changed as it is causing losses and the verdict came out which restricted the telecast to just DD Free Dish and Terrestrial Platforms. Now there is no such issue of loss of revenue as most people watch sports events on Pay TV platforms bcoz of various factors and even DD shares 75% of ad revenue it receives from airing of concerned event on Free Dish and Terrestrial Platforms with the private broadcaster which holds the rights. Also private broadcaster has option to air event on a channel which is available on DD Free Dish.... There is no risk of viewers shifting to DD Free Dish or Pay TV platforms losing any significant chunk of subscriber base bcoz of this. If content / presentation / pricing is good people will continue to subscribe to channels on Pay TV platforms

Since this series is currently not televised in India by any broadcaster and is just exclusive to OTT (which isn't covered by sports act), It shouldn't be mandatory for APV to share this with DD and any arrangement to broadcast this on DD would be a voluntary choice for APV

I believe it is mandatory for all companies be it TV broadcasters or OTT platforms....if for latter it is not compulsory then as i said DD will enter some kind of agreement with them but one thing i am sure that series will b available on DD Sports bcoz India is part of it. Just wait a little more

Basically they paid everything they got for paneer. But now they cannot offer any other spices and vegetables to complement the paneer. So have your bland panner. Paneer is IPL here. Enjoy boiled paneer with no spices and herbs now.

Same cannot be compared with situation in India. As i have read in some other countries too FTA public broadcaster get access to sports events via private TV broadcasters thru a law which mandates sharing of events of national importance.

Yes, there r cases where where FTA broadcasters buy rights for certain events for FTA audience but that is separate kind of arrangement or there r even cases where certain matches r available on FTA channels while rest on Pay TV channels. There is a concept of licence fee paid by public in such countries so FTA channels have a good source of revenue to invest in buying rights of sporting properties, such a system does not exist in India

Not true. We r still getting wide range of popular and niche sporting events on Star Sports Network as well as across other channels. Just that those not having invested in expensive properties like IPL or BCC Rights etc., they would have more room to spend that money across diverse sporting rights like u see incase of Sony Sports Network, Eurosport.... Sports28 is a new channel so they would be looking to acquire maximum rights to build strong sports portfolio hence financially viable part does not come into play right now for them.......but still i would say Star Sports Network is managing to provide good varied variety of sports on their channels despite heavily investing in buying rights of IPL, ICC, BCCI, Premier League, F1 and other such very costly properties

Why 75% not 100%? If you are doing this as a service dont take any money for it do it for free whatever revenue you get give it to the broadcaster who has the rights

DD has got government employees to pay salaries and pensions to. Than they are losing precious ad revenues from the highlights programming. 75% revenue is too much to share. IMO it should be 90 and 10. 10% to whoever acquired rights. 90% to who took effort to bring it to our screens on DD FreeDish.

A "Content Owner" If looking for a TV Broadcast, should share the signals with Prasar Bharti, APV is promoting this series as live and exclusive, it seems they aren't willing for a tv broadcast.
