Marathi movie channel Zee Talkies has launched a new initiative. Called ‘Talkies Lighthouse’, it will provide an ecosystem for talented film and short filmmakers.
Designed to have three phases, ‘Talkies Lighthouse’ will first present a series of handpicked short films in an entertaining format for audiences of Maharashtra.
The show will be presented through the lens of two protagonists who have set out to discover short films and the stories of those filmmakers in an engaging 90-minute format.
Starting 10 January, the show will air on Zee Talkies, every Sunday at 4.30 pm.
The subsequent phase of the initiative will seek to popularise short films through a contest.
‘Talkies Lighthouse Contest’ will call for entries from audiences in Maharashtra and encourage them to share their stories.
“We believe that, given an access and opportunity, audiences will be empowered to create their own short films under the guiding light of renowned industry experts,” the channel said.
Through this platform, the channel is trying to provide an opportunity to budding actors and directors to showcase their talent.
The entries will be evaluated by a jury panel, as well as audience voting, and the winning entries will be announced in the ‘Talkies Lighthouse Film Festival’, which will be an on-ground event especially designed to glorify the format of short films through workshops, symposiums, speeches and winner felicitation.
