Sony-Zee merger, Sony to infuse capital, and Punit Goenka to be CEO-MD? How does it make sense? What about N P Singh? Also Zee promoters to have an option to increase their share to around 20% in the merged entity? I think in search of regional penetration this is a suicidal move by Sony.
NP Singh Will Be Head of Board of Directors of the Merger. Zee will gain in Sports. Sony will gain in Hindi Movie Catalogue + OTT

Zeel promoters now have around 4% in Zeel, after merger even if they have 4% in the merged entity it would be unfair, there should be a considerable shrink, Invesco is right in a way that they bought stake by spending money, Promoters want to increase stake they should spend equivalently as well.

Speaking about industry, none of Zee's current channels are anyway near their peak, they don't look reaching there without any support, On the other hand Sony looks good with whatever they have, atleast better than Zee.

Sony to spend and Zeel promoters to gain, both financially and industry wise, no one else would get a substantial benefit with the deal, neither the audience nor the other stake holders. Also Goenka Led board will destroy the offerings Sony has, as has he destroyed Zeel.

The only gain I see is Sony gaining a huge influx of Library of movies through Zee. Besides that IPL with Zee and Sony's financial might may pose a challenge to Disney-Star. Disney-Star needs a solid challenger in the Indian Market and Right now only Sony combined with Zee can pose a threat

But why do you think Goenka has destroyed Zeel. Zee Kannada is gaining traction. Surely they have lost the Telugu, Tamil and especially Marathi and Bangla market Zee is still a reputed force. Atleast with Sony's involvement we can see better picture Quality on Zee channels

That's what I'm saying, Sony just looking at regional penetration of Zee, which they should've done on their own, Rest everything is there for Zeel to gain, especially sports which Zeel sold to Sony to earn money, Zeel will have partial control on that as well, On the other hand, other than regional, what will Sony have from the deal, return to investment for Sony would be negligible.

But Zee will be a Sony Company.

@Slu if you have a point worth opposing, write it down instead of reacting haha. That wasn't a joke.

I don't see future potential for Sony at international level for media gener. Probably zee will buyout Sony operation rights.or at worst case some big media congratulate will acquire the network.

However zee Sony looks promising. Have to see what they bear for shareholders
