Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) will launch more regional channels to strengthen its existing portfolio and also look to enter the Kerala market.

The company has a presence in the Telugu, Tamil and Kannada markets. The plan is to launch a Malayalam general entertainment channel.

Will ZEEL enter into new regional markets, launch flagship channels and get into new genres?

“I think, the last point is definitely the low hanging fruit as there are several genres within the regional market that we need to still complete our portfolio with, especially down south and also there are some markets where we are still not present in, like Kerala. The priority of each will be in that order and the timing is something that we would like to keep it a bit confidential,” ZEEL managing director and CEO Punit Goenka told media analysts

Following channels should be launched

1. Zee tamil, zee telugu, zee kannada, zee cinemalu hd versions. (already got licence)

2. Zee Tamil cinema & zee kannada cinema(got upcoming good film rights in tamil & already kannada movie library is good since they recently got highest ever WTP ratings in kannada)

3. Music channels in kannada & telugu( with acquisition of 9x media, 9x media team can work well to make channel hit. Also zee music company is making songs in South)

4. 2nd GEC like zee yuva in Telugu & kannada( already zee kannada is on the way to become no.1, they narrowed the rating gap with colors kannada.

Zee telugu's rating should be increased by good content. Then 2nd GEC can be launched)

5. Acquired channels like Sarthak TV & big Ganga should be taken under zee brand as zee oriya & zee bhojpuri. Big Ganga talkies should be launched soon.

6. For kerala GEC, now launching new channel may not help. They have to look for acquisition. By the way they are planning it since 10 years.

7. Big magic should be revamped as &magic.

They should launch a Punjabi GEC
as the Punjabi market is highly under estimated while other languages have tonnes of channels.

At last, congrats for Malayalam people.

They already closed zee etc punjabi.

They are running punjabi GEC zee punjabi in canada but not in India. I don't think they'll relaunch it in India.

@shantanu bro I really like your idea of thinking, but i also want to add more things:-
8.As they have license under big magic punjabi ,so they should rename it n launch it as ZEE punjabi
9.In malyalam market they should try to crack a deal with manoram ,then ZEEL n ZMCL both can enter in that market with ZEE mazavil n ZEE MANORAMA NEWS
10.ZMCL should launch channels in regionsl market or should acquire tv9 or any other.
11.They shoud convert big magic into &magic along with revamping it into family comedy channel as it was before.
12.Sarthak n big ganga should be rebranded into ZEE sarthak n ZEE ganga as that sounds good.
13.They should enter northeast n gujrati market also.
14.ZMCL should launch a channel for J&K state as currently there is no such channel.

Few points

1.They'll not enter in punjabi & gujrathi market. They already had channels which were running good & popular too but closed both channels.

Gujrathi market is not profitable for GEC. News channels getting more ratings than them that's why they are launching zee 24 kalak

2. Even if they rebrand big magic as &magic they'll not bring new content on it. They'll continue with more rerun shows although we can expect BGPH.

They already tried with original content on big magic but it failed.
3. Manorama network & tv9 acquisition makes a good point.

With tv9 they can get kannada & telugu news channels along with manorama news in malalyam. Only Tamil will left then.

4. They already planned channel for North East, they'll do it definitely.

@shantanu bro,what about a channel for J&K state

Don't know much about that market. But most people knows hindi there.

Also most of them are muslim i think. So zee salaam is enough there.

Market is also small to launch a channel by national broadcaster & earn profit

Bhai most (almost all) of the kashmiris are muslim but in jammu more 70% people are hindu and also people of jammu can't understand kashmiri and many of us can't understand urdu ,that's the reason that many urdu channels have hindi subtitles. So their must b a channel for us also.
