Jio may extend validity of Rs.50 discount vouchers by 30 days
For the unaware, Reliance Jio had been offering Rs.50 cashback vouchers on recharges of denomination Rs.399 since October 2017 and since that was Jio’s most popular recharge denomination, most subscribers still have multiple Rs.50 discount vouchers stacked up in their ‘My Jio’ app under vouchers section.
These Rs.50 discount vouchers are applicable only on plan vouchers of Rs.300 and above and data Add-on vouchers of Rs.100 and above. These can only be used for recharges done through ‘My Jio’ app and not on recharges done using main account balance or third party recharge apps. These discount vouchers are non transferable and have a fixed expiry date of 19th October 2019 for all users.
Inside sources in the company have revealed to DreamDTH on the condition of anonymity that these vouchers may not expire tomorrow and that the telco is in fact contemplating on extending the validity of these discount vouchers by another 30 days. This decision may have stemmed from the motive of assuaging the dissatisfaction among the Jio user-base which is displeased by its recent change in policy about charging for voice calls to other wireless networks.
The expiry of these discount vouchers in the current scenario would only add to the woes of the Jio subscribers and the company would not wish to add fuel to the already kindled fire of contempt. We can only wait and watch the strategy that the operator decides to take to steer the Jio ship out of these troubled waters.
