MIB cancels 1 TV channel license during April 2022
Total number of permitted satellite TV channels at 902 as of 30th April 2022. MIB cancelled 1 TV channe license during the month of April.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) in the month of April 2022 cancelled/surrendered 1 TV channel license, as per the Ministry’s monthly significant activities report submitted to the Cabinet.
The Ministry on the other hand did not issue permission to any new TV channel apart from the cancelled/surrendered 1 TV channel license during the month. The total number of private satellite TV channels permitted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) for up-linking and downlinking in India as of 30th April 2022 is 902.
The Ministry had earlier in March 2022 issued permission in respect of 1 News TV channel apart from the cancellation/surrendering of 1 TV channel. The Ministry had in February 2022 issued permission in respect of 5 News TV channels and 1 Non-News TV channel.
The name of the TV licenses cancelled in the month of March and April 2022 remain unavailable publicly from the Ministry’s end. In other news, the Ministry yesterday issued a gazette notification to notify DD Retro and 11 DD Regional channels as mandatory channels.
