MIB cancels registration of 2 MSOs in August 2021

The Ministry has cancelled registration of United Cable Communication and Seema Cable Network last month.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) last month cancelled the registration of 2 Multi-System Operators (MSOs) after the duo surrendered their MSO registration in April and July this year.

The Ministry first received Seema Cable Network’s letter dated 26th April 2021 intimating its MSO registration surrender. The Ministry proceeded to cancel the registration on 4th August 2021.

The Ministry then received United Cable Communication’s letter dated 20th July 2021 intimating its MSO registration surrender. The Ministry proceeded to cancel the registration on 4th August 2021.

As such, the number of cancelled and surrendered MSO registrations has reached 81 at the end of August 2021. In other related news, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) is currently sitting on 121 applications for a new MSO license at the end of July 2021.

MIB today also cancelled Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited’s ‘Zee Rang’ TV channel license. ‘Zee Rang’ TV channel license has been cancelled since the company surrendered the license to MIB.
