MIB grants new satellite TV channel license to ‘Puthiya Thalaimurai Express’

The channel has been allowed in the ‘NEWS’ category with uplink and downlink permissions through GSAT-30 in Tamil language.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) earlier this month granted a new satellite TV channel license to New Generation Media Corporation Private Limited to operate a new Tamil News channel. The company has been given the green light to operate a new channel named ‘Puthiya Thalaimurai Express’.

The license was granted by the Ministry to the company on 18th January 2021. The channel has been allowed in the ‘NEWS’ category with uplink and downlink permissions through GSAT-30 in Tamil language. The channel will use the teleport services of Planetcast Media.

The Chennai based company earlier known as Generation Now Media Private Limited also holds another Tamil news channel license in ‘Puthiya Thalaimurai’ name. The company separately through another front also operates ‘Puthu Yugam’, a Tamil GEC channel whose license is held by New Era Media Corporation Chennai Private Limited earlier known as TRP Media Private Limited.

The Ministry recently cancelled the satellite TV channel license of Nomad Films Limited for non-operation. The Ministry cancelled the license named ‘Green TV’ belonging to Nomad Films Limited citing ‘non-operation and non-submission of annual fees’ as the reason for cancellation.
