The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) yesterday issued a gazette notification making further amendments to the Mandatory DD channels list issued by the Ministry back in September 2013. The amendment has been made to notify DD Retro and 11 DD Regional channels as mandatory channels.

DD Retro, DD Himachal, DD Uttrakhand, DD Chattisgarh, DD Jharkhand, DD Haryana, DD Goa, DD Manipur, DD Tripura, DD Nagaland, DD Meghalaya, and DD Mizoram are the newly notified mandatory channels.

DD Retro has been notified as a General Entertainment channel whereas the rest 11 DD Regional channels have been notified as Regional General Entertainment channels by the Ministry.

The Ministry has added another proviso after the second proviso through the amendment stating that the channels from serial numbers 29 to 39 (newly notified mandatory DD Regional channels) shall be mandatorily carried only by those cable operators whose services are limited to the State to which such regional channels pertain to.
