MIB reminds DPOs/LCOs to provide LCN data of Mandatory Channels to Prasar Bharati
DPOs and LCOs advised to update their contact details with the Ministry or face action. MIB also advised them to submit requisite data on carriage of Mandatory Channels to Prasar Bharati.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) recently reminded all distribution platform operators (DPOs) and local cable operators (LCOs) to provide LCN data of Mandatory channels to the Domestic Distribution wing of the Prasar Bharati field establishment on a fortnightly basis.
The Ministry also advised DPOs/LCOs to update their email ID and contact data details in the record of the Ministry failing which necessary action would be taken as per the provisions of the CTN Act, 1995 and Rules framed thereunder will be taken against the defaulters.
The Ministry issued the advisory after noticing that MSOs are not furnishing the requisite LCN data to Prasar Bharati in spite of several emails or follow-ups. The Ministry also noticed that the e-mail/contact details of some of the MSOs have not been updated by them in the Ministry’s record due to which some MSOs could not be contacted.
Prasar Bharati has the task of monitoring the carriage of 25 Doordarshan channels, Sansad TV – SD, Sansad TV – HD, and Sansad TV – Rajya Sabha channels that are to be mandatorily carried on the cable television networks.
