MIB sitting on 45 TV license applications pending for more than a month
The Ministry received 26 new applications for permission during Quarter 3 FY 19-20 compared to 16 new applications received during Quarter 2 FY 19-20.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) is sitting on 45 TV license applications that have been pending with the Ministry for more than a month, according to the performance statistics provided by it.
The number of TV license applications pending with MIB for more than a month rose from 23 at the end of Quarter 2 FY 19-20 to 45 at the end of Quarter 3 FY 19-20. It had stood at 95 at the end of Quarter 1 FY 19-20.
The number of TV license applications pending with other ministries for more than a month rose from 58 at the end of Quarter 2 FY 19-20 to 64 at the end of Quarter 3 FY 19-20. It had stood at 48 at the end of Quarter 1 FY 19-20.
The Ministry received 26 new applications for permission during Quarter 3 FY 19-20 compared to 16 new applications received during Quarter 2 FY 19-20. It had stood at 47 during Quarter 1 FY 19-20.
The Ministry is likely to have granted many name change approvals and new TV licenses during December 2019 with Disney Channel HD, Star Sports 3 HD, Star Movies Select among others getting ready to launch soon. It, however, hasn’t updated its database with the latest database which continues to remain outdated.
