Star Plus is set to overhaul its weekend schedule in September with three huge reality TV shows, BizAsiaLive.com can exclusively reveal.

With ‘Aarambh’ coming to an end in mid-September, ‘Dance+ 3’ airs its finale on Sunday 24th September. The first major show to go live will be ‘Lip Sync Battle India’ from Saturday 16th September at 10:00 pm. The show will feature Maniesh Paul and Malaika Arora, plus Farah Ali Khan and Ali Asgar, who have been roped in as the show runners.

The second show to launch on Star Plus will be ‘Champions of Champion’, which is an original format show conceptualised by Star Plus. BizAsiaLive.com understands that ‘Champions of Champion’ will see various dance-offs between dance show winners challenged by popular contestants from their seasons. Remo D’Souza and Raghav Juyal will be a part of the series, with other celebrity judges yet to be announced. It will take the 8:00 pm slot from Saturday 30th September.

‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ will be the channel’s third new offering, which will return after nine-years. Akshay Kumar will be seen as the ‘Super Boss’ in the comedy reality show. Comedians Zakhir Khan, Mallika Dua and Hussain Dalal will be seen as the mentors in the show. ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ is expected to launch at the end of September in the 9:00 pmslot.

Aarambh ending... It is a good show and that was expected bcoz of it's heaving finite series. :coffee: But, question is that will Indian tv will have something new like Aarambh or it's Antt (End) to quality entertainment like this??o_O Who will make now good shows?? :cautious: Yudh fails, Aarambh fails, P.O.W. fail, Everest fails, an endless list of shows in last 2-3 years?? We were expecting that TV is improving but the reality is that Indian TV is falling below and below and all credit goes to producers like Rashmi Sharma & Ekta Kapoor. :cry:I have loosed hope from our TV Producers. Hell to the BARC #RisingTV.

Ya
Even the zindagi channel with premium content was closed within 3 years.

We have to accept the fact premium audience is less in India . Either they have to watch Web series or English shows.

Star plus was the only channel which experimentef with high budgeted shows like this. Now i think they'll not even take any initiative to launch such shows.

Only Hope is STAR will star plus select with critically acclaimed international shows with good dubbing in hindi. They can also get a slot for re running Indian shows like aarambh, POW, everest for premium audience on star plus select.

@hike : I think we only have the audience to blame for being interested in watching boring Saas bahu Sagas and not encouraging different content. Alt Balaji has some good shows by Ekta. I watched Boygiri, Bewafaa Si Wafa, Romil & Jugal and Karle Tu bhi Mohabat. I found them good and entertaining.

y she's not doing such concept with short stories on TV as well.

Your question is very valid bro. But unfortunately it is not succeeding. She is a businesswoman and wants to earn profits. If you remember, Star Plus tried this short stories concept through a show called 'Teri meri love stories' and 'Ishq kills' in weekends. They flopped. They tried POW and TRP ratings were dismal. Ekta tried Naagin, a regressive show and it was a super success with record breaking TRPs, so she is dishing out these kind of shows for TV. :sad

Don't know where our TV is going. If this going to happen again and again. No one is going to watch TV. Specially people like us.

Everyone has their own choice and opinions.
If you don't like saas bahu saga
that doesn't mean all trp aunties should quit watching these type of shows.

Well i think it all depends upon taste, if people like simar, gopi n etc. etc. We can't force them to hate these characters . After watching Zindagi , actually i came to know how progressive world tv is. Even our channels have good shows like behadh, kuch rang pyaar ke , kyaa kasoor hai amala ka (adaptation of fatmagul),bhootu(new show but the concept is quite deep not like typical saas bahu sagas) n all have trps below0.8. i know 0.8 is enough to make a show hit but one can't run it in the market where shows like naagin are ruling with 3.0+. All sony tv shows are innovative , even zee tv has some innovative show in past n currently bhootu ,star plus also experiments n colors is also comin with a thriler adhura alvida. Believe it or not, but indian tv is progressing but the only thing is saas bahu sagas are still ruling . that's the reason that out of all prime time shows only a few have unique concept. Fear files manage to get 2.0+ despite of those saas bahu sagas. And if you notice the trp ratings out of 10 only 4 are weekday fiction soaps. So people want to change but only thing is we have less options. So people get automatically hooked to saas bahu.
Sorry, for being too long. But i think it is necessary to show mirror to indian tv industry.
