Chennai DAS Updates.

Simply demand your LCO for "SCV Tamil Plus" and tell him you will move to DTH if he denies.

Simply moving to DTH may not be the solution, there should be a system for subscribers to complain against the LCO's for license cancellation else Govt has to ban LCO's monopoly and allow multiple LCO's to operate from the same area so let the deserving LCO's alone enjoy public support.

Seems year 2017 is nearing its completion and yet no DAS in site anywhere in Chennai as majority of cable are under analogue. LCO's show no signs of any hurry so probably 2018 too might be the same Analogue year.

@HOUSE-MD can you give an estimate of how many households in (i) Chennai and (ii) TN use DTH, analogue and digital cable. Out of these I am sure analogue is more than 90%.

Will try to collect updated stats and shall reply as all infos i have are old data. But yes, most Chennai local cable are Analogue excluding some selected areas with customers who can afford DTH all others are still under Analogue. Probably they might be still under Analogue for ever unless TRAI/MIB takes action.

VK Digital HD STB Info Channel OUT (for several weeks)

With STB Info channel missing for very long can we consider that they are giving up on DAS so have stopped promoting it OR have planned to stop analogue all of a sudden unannounced?

VK Analogue operates with mass blank slots, fewer Tamil (over 13 tamil channels lesser than SCV) & English Channels.

May be its time they call off Analogue and focus on DAS as they have excellent DAS packs and a proper approach Chennai subscribers would be more than happy to switch over

Dayanidhi Maran says SCV being the first MSO in India to offer Digital STB during 2003 and he has already invested Rs 1000 crore for STB and challenges any other MSO able to invest so much amount. Also he says being the oldest MSO in India which supplied STB he believes in his technology and does not want to point negatives about other MSO's.

Also he said that once DAS is implemented LCO's can do analogue and will suddenly lose customers as it takes a upto 6 weeks to supply STB once ordered from the MSO so LCO's have to book their requirements well in Advance.

SD STB are being sold at Rs 500 and HD STB at Rs 1,200.
