Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati on Monday invited applications for the allotment of vacant MPEG-2 slots of DD Free Dish DTH platform on pro-rata basis for the period from 6th August, 2020 to 31st March, 2021.

The e-auction will be held online with the last date for submission of applications set as 27th July. E-Auction if required will be held on the next day.

The auction is expected to allocate the existing 3 vacant MPEG-2 slots which are empty right now. With Movie Plus and Manoranjan Grand managing to hold onto their slots with help from TDSAT orders, the vacant MPEG-2 slots are unlikely to rise.

The auction will be open to international broadcasters registered by the I&B Ministry while those satellite channels licensed by the I&B Ministry for downlinking would also be eligible for distribution of the channel.
