Zee Entertainment on Tuesday appointed R Gopalan as the new Chairman of the board after Subhash Chandra tendered his resignation on 18th August as the non-executive director of the company which has been accepted by the board of directors.
Subhash Chandra has been requested by the board to act as ‘Chairman Emeritus’ as a mark of respect considering his unmatched contributions which has been accepted by him effective 19th August. With his rich experience Chandra will continue to guide the board and company’s senior management.
Subhash Chandra founded the company 27 years ago which has over time transformed into a media and entertainment powerhouse.
R Gopalan who was appointed as an additional director in the category of independent director in November 2019 will take reigns over the Chairmanship of the board. R Gopalan has held various positions in leading Public Enterprises as an officer of Indian Administrative Services (lAS). He has been appointed with immediate effect.
