The AYUSH ministry had sought help from ASCI to alert them about such misleading advertisements and the advertising watchdog launched a drive to act against such misleading advertisements that claim prevention or cure of COVID-19.
Airtel had last week announced its move to offer its four service channels Airtel Curiosity Stream, LetsDance, AapkiRasoi, and Airtel Seniors TV for free till 14th April.
Aapki Rasoi, Airtel Seniors TV, Let’s Dance and Airtel Curiosity Stream are the 4 service channels which will be available to all customers without extra charges until 14th April.
ASCI investigated complaints against 310 advertisements, of which 77 advertisements were promptly withdrawn by the advertisers on receipt of communication from ASCI.
All these 12 service channels would be available for free until the end of the national lockdown.
The broadcasters are supporting the government of India in the fight against COVID-19 and helping people stay at home by keeping them entertained.
Tata Sky encouraged its customers to use the Tata Sky App/Website or Tata Sky Whatsapp features for all their queries.
India’s Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju also tweeted promoting the DTH operator’s move.
