DPOs wrote to TRAI regarding paid channels availability on DD Free Dish platform. They allege that this is a highly discriminatory practice and does not give a level playing field.

The broadcaster has invited applications for the allotment of vacant MPEG-4 slots on a pro-rata basis for the period of September 1st 2021 to March 31st 2022.
The amendment has been done pursuant to the approval of the Prasar Bharati board in its 165th meeting held on 18th February 2021.
Prasar Bharati successfully allocated 57 slots to different channels in various buckets and genres during the E-Auction concluded today.
The channels will be on air on DD Free Dish platform from 1st April 2021 subject to completion of all formalities.
The bidding in the e-auction will be open to all genre and language channels at reserve price of Rs 50 laks per annum.
Prasar Bharati CEO however didn’t reveal the channels that would be enabled in HD from Doordarshan’s offerings in the recent future.
