Cannes, May 16: Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and director Madhur Bhandarkar announced their new project titled 'Heroine' at the Cannes Films Festival on Friday.

Directed by popular Indian director Madhur Bhandarkar, the film will feature Aishwarya Rai portraying the character and life of a popular actress.

The film will deal with the ups and downs and troubles that a popular actress faces in the glitzy world of celluloid industry.

"In India I am known to make women centric cinema and the real cinema. This is for the first time that a full film on the life of an actress is made but it has nothing to do with the Bollywood or Indian film industry," Madhur Banhdarkar said.

"It is about the journey of an actress, the internal life of conflict of this girl who is an actress, a superstar in this film," he said.

"It highlights the ups and downs in her life and the personal journey," he mentioned.

'Heroine' is the first film where the two prominent figures of B-town, Ash and Madhur Bhandarkar will feature together.

"I am so glad we are coming together for this movie. It is wonderful collaboration and I am totally at home with UTV,” Bollywood glamour icon Ashwariya Rai Bachchan said.

“Madhur and me have been interacting for long, I am really looking forward to this creative beauty together,” she said.

Produced by UTV Motion pictures, the shooting for the film will commece from mid 2011.
