Yes, Arasu can make use of BSNL to connect with all LCO's within the city in no time.

But BSNL may not be the only choice, Arasu being a state govt company can make use of any optical-fiber cable laid by the govt for public use e.g. thousands of traffic cams across the city should be using some optical-fiber cable for both monitoring, control and usage (a single optical fiber strand can transmit data at a rate of 100 Terabits per second and modern fiber cables can contain a thousand fibres in a single cable and this potential bandwidth would be mostly free) so if possible then can be used for any public use like Arasu, Arasu Internet etc).

If Arasu wants it can simply connect all LCO's in a single day or even within half a day. (y)

I think LCO's fear that their subscribers would become Arasu subscribers if they are allowed to collect subscription charges via Arasu app, this is why LCO's didn't like SCV online payment system. If Arasu can address this issue then LCO's will be running to Arasu as a Rs 200 pack with all SD & HD channels from Arasu will not only help retain cable subscribers but also bring back a good part of DTH users due to its low cost and able to serve even during storms and rains.:)

Eng: Arasu has started to give training to VAO to speedup Arasu cable broadband connectivity to all villages and recruit students to count the number of high power electric lines which easily connect to a BSNL office and report the same to VAO so Arasu can use those electric poles to connect the BSNL broadband which Arasu has leased via Arasu broadband corporation within a very short time.

Since government staffs are finding it hard to both count and report the number of such high power electric poles in their areas which delays the broadband connectivity to villages. For this service the students will be paid Rs 420 per day.

Tamil Nadu Plan To Expand Internet Connectivity Receives Good Response:

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu government's ambitious proposal to expand internet service connectivity has evoked a good response with over 300 applications being received and 170 companies getting the green signal to go ahead.

Under the "Internet to every HouseHold" scheme launched by late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in 2011, the government floated a Special Purpose Vehicle 'Tamil Nadu FiberNet Corporation' to implement it.

Telecom major Vodafone was selected by the Arasu Cable TV Corporation under the open tender process, the IT department policy note said.

Currently, 2,577 subscribers use the leased line internet connectivity.

"In order to expand the internet service, Arasu Cable TV floated the Expression of Interest to become business partners on revenue sharing basis and about 392 applications were received".

"Orders were issued to 170 applicants for starting the internet service and about 24,750 households are expected to be provided with the internet service under this initiative", it said.

Eng: Arasu asks LCO's to forward subscribers list from today till Aug 16 like name, s#x, DOB, address, Aadhaar no, e-mail address, mobile contact no, STB type, for home use or commercial etc.

Its a big question if subscribers will give all these details to LCO or if LCO will share these details with Arasu as LCO might fell less secured as in future Arasu can easily ask subscribers to pay directly to Arasu either via online or at ration shops or EB office which will affect LCO's plan to hike the subscription as they like. :D

Eng: Arasu plans to start supplying Free SD & HD STB from August and complete the same by December 2017.

Since manufacturing 70 lac STB in a short notice is impossible, the order is going to be split between the 3 selected companies from tender if they accept to offer STB at the same cost as the first company.

SD & HD channel subscription cost is yet to be decided, to offer the subscription at competitive rates, its been decided to fix the SD subscription around Rs 100 - 150 (Rs 70 is currently being collected for analogue).

The cost for the free STB is Rs 1,200 crores which will be repaid to the manufacturers within 3 years on EMI.

Eng: LCO's are reluctant to sign agreement with Arasu cable due to a delay and uncertainty of the STB delivery. LCO's say that STB delay is too long and disappointing. Also TRAI has given a deadline of 17 Aug to go DAS else lose DAS provisional license, so LCO's are both worried and reluctant to signup DAS agreement with Arasu Cable and trying to signup with Private MSO's.
