The apparent thief left retail assistants baffled after she straddled the entertainment system and walked straight out of the shop

Either the skirt is very big or the TV is very small.

Because one woman managed to stroll out of a shop unnoticed with a plasma television set hiding between her legs - in just 13 seconds.

CCTV footage shows the woman, who is now being hunted by police, and her accomplice strolling into the open showroom in the town of Guapiles, Costa Rica.

Eyeing it up: Woman briefly checks for onlookers before grabbing the TV

After a couple of furtive glances, she is seen picking up the plasma TV, straddling it, straightening her skirt and then walking off with it wedged between her thighs.

Stunned shop assistant Jacint Ramirez Callas, 25, said: "She did it so quickly no one had time to notice or react.

"And having watched the video it is amazing that the TV doesn’t fall out from between her legs.

"She must be a pro or have very thick thighs. She left as if she didn't have a care in the world. I’ve never seen anything like it."

Up to no good: The woman straddles the TV as her accomplice stands by

Now police have appealed to the public for help by releasing the video.

A police spokesman said: "We believe this woman has had a lot of experience of doing this as it only took her 13 seconds from start to finish.

"Either she has been practising at home or has carried out similar thefts and we appeal to anybody who might know more to get in touch."
