Mumbai, May 20: Colors channel, after its series of serials based on social issues, is all set to regale audiences with a light-hearted show 'Hamari Saas Leela', to be telecast from Monday, May 30.

At a function here last evening, Apara Mehta who plays the protagonist ‘Leela’ and the other cast, provided a sneak peek into what the audience should expect from the new show.

Apara told reporters that her character is that of a modern woman and her journey to find the perfect bride, who will fit in the family, for her eligible sons''.

Speaking to UNI about her shift from intense roles to light-hearted ones, Mehta said ''The stereotypical saas roles become monotonous after a point. Such roles will be a pleasant change for the audience too, Leela Parekh is someone everybody will identify with and want to watch.'' Producer of the show Asit Modi said ''Audiences will love this show which portrays a slice of life. Though the show will refrain from intense plots, it will definitely have its emotional moments.'' Formerly, the show was named 'Bahu Wahi Jo Saas Mann Bhayye' but changed to the more catchy 'Hamari Saas Leela', he added.

Theatre actor and writer Feroz Bhagat plays the patriarch Madhusudan Parekh, a loving husband and is a spectator to his wife-mother fun tussles.

The grandmother's role will be played by Lily Patel, a theatre actor, and the iconic grandmother of the small screen.

The show will compete with other reigning daily soaps on other channels and hopes to reach No 1 position because of its fun content, the producer claimed.
