Though I am not a technical person, let me try to explain. Analog is old technology. Digital is new technology where a DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) tuner is required to convert digital signals.

Our STBs work as digital tuners.

For cable it is DVB C,
For satellite it is DVB S
and for terrestrial it is DVB T.
Most of the latest TV models have in built DVB T tuner.
