Star will gain a few kids channels from the merger. But then there will be too many Hindi movie channels (Star: 4 SD, 2 HD; Disney: 2 SD, 1 HD; total: 9). And there will be 4 English GECs (1 SD, 3 HD). I hope SW Premiere HD is shut down and Disney International HD is retained as it is the better of the two channels.

Disney should shut down Star Utsav Movies. Consider rebranding Star Gold Select HD to UTV Action HD and Movies Ok to Star Bharat Cinema. Star Gold SD and HD should air premium bollywood content. UTV Movies SD and HD should air urban centric content. Star Gold Select SD for old movies. UTV Action SD and HD should air only dubbed hollywood action movies. Since their competition airs lots of regional movies. They need to start a new movie channel brand with Star Bharat Cinema SD and HD which would exclusively air regional dubbed cinema with good premium titles. This channel should have both dubbed and original audio along with subtitles.
For English GEC's Star World should be family oriented with ABC and Fox's content. Disney International HD doesn't need to change anything. But for Star World Premiere. They need to go premium this time for real. They should take advantage of TRAI's new tariff. At first get rid of ads. Remove it from Bouquet(s). Start charging Rs 25. And start airing uncensored content like OTT service does. Since it will be unaccessible to family audience due to it being Ala-Carte only channel they can get away uncensored content. Plus no underage person are paying for their own cable plan. So they are giving consent to watch SWP would air.

I think SG Select HD and UTV HD should be retained as they are. UTV HD will be the destination for any action flicks and Hollywood content while SG Select will continue to show the premium Hindi movies that it shows now. Both Movies OK and UTV Action can be shut down.

UTV Action is loved by all. SGS movies should go to Star Gold and UTV Movies. SGS's library has 0% value as the movies are on repeat since last 2 years. The so called premium movies are available for free everywhere.

Yes,even Disney is buying Star but in India Star is 10X bigger than 'Disney India'.So Star's management will lead(or having major control on) the merged entity.Most jobs will be axed from current disney channels.
