Power-and-blood fantasy saga “Game of Thrones” ruled the Emmy Award nominations on Wednesday with a leading 23 bids, including best drama, while a real-life epic of murder and celebrity, “The People v OJ Simpson,” was close behind with 22 nods.

“Game of Thrones” gets the chance to win its second top Emmy, while “Veep,” last year’s top comedy winner, also will get another shot at holding office and with 17 nominations was the comedy leader.

Breakthrough nominations include a best comedy series nod for sophomore “black-ish,” which brought the African-American family sitcom back to network TV, with bids as well for its stars, Anthony Anderson who announced the awards on Wednesday and read his own name with glee and his co-star Tracee Ellis Ross.

They were among a number of black actors recognized by TV academy voters, who have started to keep pace with TV’s growing diversity in sharp contrast to moviedom’s Academy Awards, which were slammed as “Oscars So White” this year.

Viola Davis, the “How to Get Away with Murder” star who last year became the first woman of color to win a best drama actress trophy, was nominated again. So was “Empire” star Taraji P Henson.

Aziz Ansari received a lead comedy acting bid for his series “Master of None,” a first for an Indian-American actor. Rami Malek, of Egyptian descent, earned a top drama acting nomination for his role as a renegade hacker in freshman “Mr Robot,” which got a best drama nod.

But there were no major acting nods for the stars of “Fresh Off the Boat” or other Asian-American actors, or for Latinos, which has been a recurrent Emmy pattern.

“Game of Thrones” and “Mr Robot” will compete with “Better Call Saul,” ”Homeland,” ”House of Cards,” ”The Americans” and “Downton Abbey,” the last a nod for its farewell season.

But the final season of “The Good Wife” was not recognized, and star Julianna Margulies also was snubbed.

Mumbai: The seventh season of ‘Game of Thrones’ will begin shooting later this summer, HBO programming president Casey Bloys has announced.

Production of the seven-episode seventh season will be based in Northern Ireland, while additional portions will be filmed in Spain and Iceland, with debut slated for next year on HBO internationally and Star World Premiere HD in India.

“Now that winter has arrived on ‘Game of Thrones’, executive producers David Benioff and DB Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing. Instead of the show’s traditional spring debut, we’re moving the debut to summer to accommodate the shooting schedule,” said Bloys.

More details about the show have been revealed. The directors of the upcoming season will include Mark Mylod, Jeremy Podeswa, Matt Shakman and Alan Taylor. Locations for shooting in Spain will include Sevilla, Caceres, Almodovar del Rio, Santiponce, Zumaia and Bermeo.

Last week, ‘Game of Thrones’ received 23 Primetime Emmy nominations for its sixth season, the most of any nominee for the third year in a row. Those who missed the last season can catch up with it on Star World Premiere HD from Monday to Friday at 11 pm.

Just two seasons remaining and they have decreased the number of episodes

Really there wouldn't be any show that could replace it's epicness

Just hoping that it continues for 3 or more seasons :(

HBO has confirmed what 'Game of Thrones' fans never wanted to hear: The fantasy-thriller phenomenon will be coming to an end after Season 8.

Recently HBO renewed the series adapted from George R.R. Martin's novels for a shortened seventh season consisting of seven episodes.

The eighth season will bring the saga to a close. The number of episodes for that last cycle has not been determined, HBO programming chief Casey Bloys said Saturday at the Television Critics Association's summer conference. "We'll take as many as the (producers) will give us," he said.

After that, a spinoff remains a possibility.
"We're open to it, the (producers) aren't opposed to it, but there's no concrete plans right now," Bloys said.

"Game" won't be back with its seventh season until next summer, missing the deadline for the 2017 Emmy competition, which it routinely dominates. Last year, "Game" scored a dozen Emmys.

"It's always better to win more Emmys," Bloys said. "But the main goal is to do the best show possible for our subscribers and fans."

After dominating the big screen, Baahubali is all set to be adapted for television. Writer KV Vijayendra Prasad has revealed that he has started working on the script to turn the two-part epic saga into a television series on the lines of Game of Thrones.

Unlike regular soap operas in India, Baahubali TV series will run into seasons and it will me made on the scale of American cult television show Game of Thrones. A season in TV shows refers to a group of episodes that will run for a continuing period of time and take a break for some time to return with a new bunch of episodes.

In an interview, Vijayendra has said that it will take more time for him to develop the characters and plot to suit for the TV series. Previously, the legendary writer, who is also the father of director SS Rajamouli, had written the screenplay for blockbusters like Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Magadheera among others.

Vijayendra has completed the script for Baahubali: The Conclusion. The second part of the epic series is the most-anticipated film of 2017, thanks to its first part that ended on a cliffhanger. The film, directed by Rajamouli is the second expensive film made in India and boasts an all-star cast, including Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah. The film is slated to open in theatres worldwide in April next year.

Rajamouli has time and again expressed interest in continuing to make films in the Baahubali franchise. The filmmakers, meanwhile, are pulling out all stops to promote the franchise even as they have forayed into graphic novels, virtual reality and so on.

The film crew is expected to complete Baahubali: The Conclusion shooting by the end of the December. The shooting is underway at the Film City in Hyderabad, where the grand Mahishmati kingdom set has been built.

But as it is tv series,
It has to run longer than movie,
So story will be different in order to stretch it.
