The government has deferred INX
Music’s FIPB proposal to undertake the
additional activity of broadcasting of a non-news
and current affairs channel.

As per the proposal, 9X Media’s Marathi music
channel 9X Jhakaas will be transferred to INX
Music, which already owns and operates Punjabi
music channel 9X Tashan.

In future, any channel launch in regional music
space will take place under this subsidiary
company. For the record, 9X Media CEO Pradeep
Guha had told that the
company was planning to launch a Bengali and
an Odia music channel.

9X Media (erstwhile INX Media) owns close to 64
per cent stake in INX Music while the remaining
36 per cent is held by Sandeep Bansal. I
“I have picked up close to 36 per cent stake in
9X Jhakaas, similar to what Iown in Tashan. So,
we are looking to transfer 9X Jhakaas to INX
Music,” Bansal had earlier

INX Music, a company which aggregates and
distributes music content for TV channels, has
70.85 per cent indirect foreign investment.
