While speculations on the launch of Apple's second-generation tablet iPad 2 have been going for quite sometime, India's home shopping channel HomeShop18 has announced that it is offering Apple iPad 2 on its ecommerce portal at a starting price of Rs 34900. The tablet, according to the company, is delivered at the customer's door step with free in-transit insurance. HomeShop18 brings the device in 3G and Wifi formats in both white and black colour options. Apple ipad 2 comes with a dual core A5 processor which, according to Apple, doubles the device's speed and graphic display by nine times. iPad 2 bears two cameras at back and front for video conferencing; an HDMI port; a smart microfiber case-cum stand that is also used to clean it; and will come in both black and white variants. Also, iPad 2 is a lot thinner than the current iPad (one third), even thinner than the iPhone 4. According to the company iPad 2 is 33% thinner and 15% lighter than iPad. iPad 2 runs of Apple's latest mobile operating system version, iOS 4.3. The new OS offers AirPlay feature that lets users wirelessly stream multimedia content to an HDTV through an optional Apple TV box. Other additional features of iOS 4.3 include iTunes Home Sharing, faster Safari web browser, Personal Hotspot etc. Integrated with Wifi and 3G, iPad 2 comes in 3 different variants: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB with and without 3G. The company claims that customers will get international warranty as the devices are direct imports from the US and come with a one year of manufacturer warranty free. Incidentally, Apple has been facing lot of criticism in India due to the late launch of its products in the Indian market. The original iPad finally arrived in India a full nine months after it was available in the United States. iPad 2 hit the shops in the US on March 11 and it was released in several other countries on March 25. Many tech bloggers have targeted Apple, accusing the company of using India as a dumping ground for out-of-date Apple technology. The iPad 2 is selling in the United States at about the same prices as the iPad 1, ranging from $499.
