Hyderabad : The second season of Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu on Maa TV is coming to an end on 27th February.
Maa TV sources confirm that the channel is planning to launch two new fiction show in place of MEK 2 starting from 2nd March onwards.
The Telugu Version of the quiz based show KBC anchored by the Actor Nagarjuna is being aired at 9:30 PM on every Monday to Friday will be going off-air by the month end.
Market sources confirm that the show despite delivering decent numbers in the second season never managed to cross the peaking points of the first Season. One of the reason behind the drop in numbers was attributed to pushing the telecast time from 9 PM in the first season to 9: 30 PM in the second season, which resulted in the considerable loss of rural and small town audience.
The second season of MEK started on 8th December has opened with 8.2 TVR against 8.4 in MF4+ and 11.2 TVR in Fe 15+ ABC in the concluding week of MEK's first season during the 1st week of August 2014.
However, the show hasn't been able to generate as much buzz as it did in the first season.
As per the ratings of first week of January 2015, MEK 2 has seen its historic low as the show has delivered an average of 4.5 TVR in MF4+ and 6.4 TVR in Female 15+ABC which is 50% lesser than the average of the previous season and failed to find a spot among the top five reality shows on AP Market.
However, the show managed to bounce back marginally during the week 4 and 5 with an average of 8 TVR in Female TG and 6.5 TVR in Male TG.
Apparently, Maa TV decided against continuing the show further due to the ongoing ICC World Cup series and upcoming IPL 8 as the same is likely to scatter the audience further.
Channel sources also confirm that unlike the first and second season, the third season will not be launched in quick succession and there will be a reasonable break before the launch of next season and the same will be decided by the new management under the control of Star India.
