Ajith has completed his 18th year in his cinema career. In his 18th year of his career, he is acting in the film Mankatha. He is donning dual roles in Mankatha. One of that role is a dangerous villain role.

Ajith is the first hero to act with beard throughout the film. He had also acted in the film Amarkalam like that. Now other heroes are following him. Even in Mankatha he is sporting a new look. He is donning the salt and pepper hair style. This hair style is called Apple White.

There is a big star cast in this Mankatha. Arjun, Premji Amaran, Vaibhav, Mahat , Ganesh Venkatraman, Aswin, Manju Manoj, Trisha, Sneha, Lakshmi Rai, Vega, Vedhika, Anjali, Andrea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kainaat Arora and Sona are starring in this film. Ajith and Kainaat Arora are shaken their legs for a bar dance.
Mankatha is a film based on the cricket gambling. All are bad, but how bad he is. This is the character of Ajith in this film. There are nine songs in this film. The music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. There are variety of songs that include Ajith’s intro song, duet song with Trisha and Kuthu songs.

A song which begins with the line Aadu Mankatha has been shot in a very different way in Bangkok. Ilayaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja has sung a song for Mankatha. Vaali and Gangai Amaran have penned the lyrics. Apart from them, Mahakavi Bharathiyar grandson Niranjan Bharathi has penned a song.

Cinematographer Saravanan has shot some important sequences strapping a body mount camera in his body which weighed 50 kilos. The shooting of the film has taken place in Mumbai’s Dharavi slum. To shoot some important scenes, art director Riteesh has erected sets replica of Dharavi.

Venkat Prabhu has cleverly managed to match the real and the sets. The corruption of IPL cricket President Lalith Modi features in this film. Arjun is donning the role of a CBI officer who investigates this corruption
